with breathtaking views

The Old Fort is a multi-award winning seaside pub & restaurant located in Seaview, a pretty Edwardian sailing village on the north eastern side of the Isle of Wight.  Located right on the water’s edge on the Esplanade, The Old Fort offers uninterrupted sweeping panoramic views of the Solent and beyond – a perfect place to sit and watch the world go by.

Under new ownership since July 2020, The Old Fort has had an extensive and much needed re-model inside with an improved bar and restaurant layout downstairs, the new and improved use of ‘The Hatch’ for self-service outside, an all new open-plan bar & restaurant space upstairs with 55 seats, as well as altering our kitchen and cellar spaces to better suit the ‘new normal’ and to cope with the increase in capacity and demand.

Please note: children and well behaved dogs are welcome downstairs but we do ask that you leave your furry friends at home if dining with us in the upstairs restaurant and bar. Our outside tables are available on a first-come, first-served basis only.

Serving fresh, locally sourced, seasonal produce

The island has so much to offer along its shores, coastal waters and woodlands.  With an abundance of foraging, fishing and farming, the Isle of Wight is renowned for some of Britain’s best produce. With this in mind, we have appointed a new Executive Chef who together with his talented team aim to offer a mix of delicious pub classics and mouth watering daily specials, using fresh, local, seasonal produce wherever possible.

During the warmer months we focus on fresh fish including plenty of fresh IOW crab & lobster, which remain firm favourites among our customers and we are rather famous for our delicious Crab Ramekin.

Drink in the spectacular views in one of the most beautiful pubs on the Isle of Wight. With a wide range of beers, wines and spirits on offer, whatever your poison might be, we are confident that we will have something you’ll love. That's because we are a freehouse, have no constraints and are able to offer a selection of drinks & real ales, chosen by us and our regulars from local breweries. These are changed and added to according to demand and season, meaning we’ll always have something you love in-house. We are Beer Marque accredited offering "The Perfect Pint" with a broad selection of ales, lagers, pale ales, stout and cider available on draught, as well as an extensive wine cellar and our Signature Cocktails, there’s bound to be a drink to whet your appetite.

Having won Silver at the 2023 Isle of Wight Awards for "Best Pub" - we pride ourselves on being one of the best pubs on the Isle of Wight, offering delicious cuisine to suit everybody’s dietary needs. Our Executive & Head Chef and their team work closely with local suppliers and strive to produce high-quality meals for each of our guests, from our varied specials & seasonal menu. Our pastry-chef is always rustling up new taste explosions on our specials desert board and we offer a good kids menu & serve sandwiches and toasted ciabattas during lunch service. Please note, due to food being cooked to order, there may be a short wait during busy periods.
